Rodney Murdoch has featured numerous times within pre-release Final Fantasy XVI trailers and it’s believed he will be an influential figure within the Grand Duchy of Rosaria.
At the start of the game, Rodney Murdoch holds the position of Lord Commander of the Ducal Army. In honour of this title, Rodney is gifted the Invictus sword by Elwin Rosfield, the Archduke of Rosaria.
Outside of commanding Rosaria’s armies, Rodney is also assigned as the personal trainer of Clive Rosfield. It’s his responsibility to ensure Clive’s martial abilities progress so that he can take up the mantle of “First Shield of Rosaria”, something that happens when Clive is approximately 15 years old.
It’s unclear how Rodney’s story will unfold as Final Fantasy XVI progresses, but as the Lord Commander, he is a fearsome warrior who is always combat ready.
