Game Informer recently had the chance to talk to Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of the Final Fantasy X series, the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, Mobius Final Fantasy and head of the company’s Creative Business Unit I.
In this they were talking about the Final Fantasy X series and the interviewer took the chance to ask about how much talk there is around a Final Fantasy X-3 at the company right now.
In this Kitase reconfirmed that they sadly cannot do Final Fantasy X-3 until Final Fantasy VII Remake is done.
“there have been no movements to realize it because, once the project begins, there is no doubt that it would become a massive project with hundreds of staff working on it (and I have an ongoing project that I need to finish before then!).”
Final Fantasy X-3 would of course finally finish the story of the franchise’s 2nd best selling game that was reopened in 2013 by scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and character designer Tetsuya Nomura with a novella and audio drama that left the series on a massive cliffhanger.
You can read more from Kitase including talk about the game’s infamous mini-games here.
